In Spring of 2020, just a few weeks before Easter, something called a “Corona-Virus” was reportedly sweeping across the nation. Fear gripped people of all ages. Countless businesses and organizations were deemed “non-essential” and were told to cease operations.
At least we still had church.
Then, with Easter Sunday just a week away, the unthinkable happened. Even churches were closing their doors! For how long, no one knew — but on Easter?!!
Yes. On Easter.
But what about “not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing…”?? (Hebrews 10:25)
Our hearts were committed to honoring the Lord, no matter what. So, early morning on Easter Sunday, at a fire pit surrounded by boulders, twenty-seven friends & family members got together to celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
For the next 6 weeks, our little tribe of believers came back for MORE. More WORSHIP, in a world suspending such activities. More FELLOWSHIP, in a culture determined to isolate its people. And more LIGHT from God’s Word, while a mysterious darkness endeavored to snuff it out.
We knew it was time.
Amidst the frantic cries to
“Shut down! Shut down! Shut down!”
a bigger voice was saying,
“RISE UP. RISE UP. RISE UP.”
“Rise up on behalf of My Son,
who died and rose up for YOU.”
So we did.
